Re: the topic - yeah, just remove it

Re: the thread title - please change it immediately lol
That's a not very good suggestion for a guy who uses "Jesus Christ is God" as a nickname.

Gender ideology is causing so much trouble on this brave new word.

Zero stars for this suggestion.
You can edit that your self in ACP anyway.

ACP>Configuration>Custom Profile Fields>Edit the 'Sex' field to say 'gender' or whatever you want.

Sex is used in an everyday sense, it was mentioned earlier that gender and sex are ordinarily used interchangably, but of course, if you seek a more nuanced definiton, sex and gender are separate and other thinkers, such as Judith Butler, demonstrate how gender can't be defined by sex and that sex comes from the discourse of sexuality, which she also does away with along with gender in terms of identity. In my opinion, this field for the profile has little relevance on a forum anyway - removing it entirely would have the same effect as it being there.

But as regards MyBB implimenting a sex field in their software, it's just the ordinary usage, but at least they allow you to edit it, or remove it, at your will if you so choose for your own political point of view - the four options do allow anyone to declare either the binary or nothing or something more ambigious altogether:

Undisclosed
Male
Female
Other

So even though it gives you the default field of sex, you still have the choice to not fill it in at all, or you can change the setting for input so that users can enter whatever they like.

So yeah, not really an issue for a suggestion given the users ability to change it themselves if they want to.

lol what means "other"?
Well, if we say sex=gender, 'other' could mean queer and so could undisclosed. If you're not familar with queer, it is another form of gender, it just means anyone who doesn't seem to fit into either binary, or who sways between them and everywhere in between. Or it could mean elf, or pixie - who the hell knows? Big Grin
can't you just change it by editing the language file ?
Sex is defined by anatomy; gender is how the individual self-identifies.

Undisclosed: I don't want to tell you
Male: identifies as male
Female: identifies as female
Other: identifies as something other than male or female

It's probably best not to include this nuanced field by default.
