No, phpBB uses the GNU GPL licence whereas MyBB uses the GNU LGPL. Smile

No, we will not be changing licenses any time. We are only using a different license for 2.0 to make things clearer and more obvious, as described here: https://blog.mybb.com/2015/05/09/change-...-mybb-2-0/

MyBB 1.8 will always be LGPL, 2.0 will always be BSD 3 Clause.
