Images and urls attached to a post are not showing up in the live post, but are visible in the edit. This seems to happen for all users. 

The settings in the User CP have the box checked for "Display images in post" and "Display videos in post".

This is a base install with minimal extra configurations using the default template and styles.

I updated the OS to debian testing since stable debian didn't include php-mbstring which was listed in the install documents. It didn't help though.

I'm now running Debian 9.0 (Stretch) with mybb 1.8.10 and still have no images or links.

I created a new Ubuntu 16.10 install, tarred up the sqlite3 database and the Upload directory and copied it over.

This replicates the issue, so there must be something wrong with the database or files. I have replaced the files with a fresh copy of 1.8.10 with no effect. Is there possibly something in the database that would cause this? I dug around in the database and the mybb_users table has showimages set to 1 for all of the users.
