hi there can someone tell how to install a new theme the intruction tell me to install in the forums folder of the server however which subfolder after this please

The theme usually just comes with images and JScripts, you'll usually have an "Upload" folder, if there is an "inc" folder, that goes in the mybb root directory, along with jscripts, images, etc.
Then you'll upload the theme's XML file to import it.
Templates & Styles > Import a Theme
Then select the XML file
