I tried to make an upgrade from MYBB 1.8.8 to 1.8.10. But things went quite  wrong. So after all I made a clean 1.8.10 install. 

I have original a back up file from 1.8.8, before I attempted an upgrade.

So my question is how to put back members and categories forums with all the posts from my backup file?

you can try using the Merge System or restore earlier version forum
and try the upgrading process again; note error message(s) & seek help here
