I'm trying to update MyBB from 1.8.8 to 1.8.11. 
I have uploaded all the files twice just to make sure any were missing and I am still getting a blank page saying "Currently unable to handle this request."

This is what my error logs show.

looks like your php version is lower than 5.4 - see this reply
Edit: if possible, try upgrading php version

Upgrading my php fixed the problem, thanks .m.
