I am getting this error message when I try soft delete a topic on forumdisplay, also the go input button isn't showing a one when I select a topic.

The issue with the Go button sounds like a possible JS issue - what's your URL? I've just tried it here on the community forums running 1.8.11 and it appears to work correctly.
The backend should check whether any threads are actually selected before running that query, so that's a bit of an issue.
