create a new theme and then rebuild every templateset step by step on your own. this is hard and messy work.

How much would a coder ask for this?

conversion of MyBB 1.6 theme to 1.8 version is a time consuming & complex task.

upgrading guidance Wrote:Visit your Admin Control Panel, then go to Templates & Style > Templates > Find Updated Templates.
This will show you a list of all the templates that have changed during the upgrade.

You can either revert these templates to their default - meaning all the changes you've made to it will be removed
- or you can see a Diff Report which will show you exactly what's changed. If you have a custom theme installed,
it is probably best that you look at the Diff Report and apply the changes you need.

you may also try basic theme updating guidance (1.6 - 1.8) [might not be suitable for dark themes]

Why not suitable for dark themes? Why does that even matter?
Anf will this change any of the visual aspect of the design?
^ provided theme conversion guidance [basic 1.6 - 1.8] is suitable for themes with white background color.
css style changes meant for white background can (badly) affect appearance of the dark colored themes
