Full Version: Protecting admin directory with basic auth issue

Hello,

I noticed when following this guide (https://docs.mybb.com/1.8/administration...basic-auth) when Basic Auth is enabled on the admin directory, if you go to mysite.com/admin, you immediately get a 401 error, but when you authenticate to MyBB first and then access mysite.com/admin, then the basic auth kicks in and you get prompted for a username and password.

I'm just wondering if this is the intended behaviour or if there is an Apache setting that needs to be checked? I did note that basic auth works just find on a plain directory outside of my MyBB install.

Thanks!
Seems like a mod_security rule may be getting triggered, check with your hosting provider.

Nope. Mod_Security isn't currently enabled.
