i had problem in my forum because our host upgraded
so i took the SQL backup from my phpmyadmin i Export the database name
and i re install the the mybb and used same database
but my forum doesn't show any user or thread of what we had
looks like your earlier database is wiped out & new content is written into it.
you can remove this database,
import your
earlier database backup & connect through
config.php file
i didn't remove the phpmyadmin and i added same database for inc/config.php but nothing happen
^ as I understand it, your earlier database is overwritten when a new forum is installed into it.

That's impressive if your forum has so much traffic that the DB has more than 100GB of data.

That would be 100MB. Standard for PHP import limitations. You will need to contact your host to get them to import it using the shell
