It says I could not connect with the database, and what does this mean? It's my first time installing mybb.

Check the details you're using to connect to the database. The usual type is MySQL/MySQLi and the hostname is usually localhost. Other than that, ensure that your database name, username, and password are correct. Refer to this document.
