Since I'd like to encourage more people to register for my forum, I wanted to make registration as quick and easy as possible. The default MyBB registration page includes a lot of clutter that doesn't need to be there. When I was testing out my installation of MyBB 1.8.13, I modified the templates to remove all the stuff in the shaded area:

However, when I did that, some odd bugs occurred. For example, all new users would have PMs disabled by default - you wouldn't be able to send them PMs. Apparently that field has to be set by the checkboxes I had removed.
It would be awesome if someone found a way to streamline the registration page without breaking anything. What's the best way to hide extraneous information from the registration page?
