For me that was easy to respond.
Firts at all i use my own mod, because it is the only one working with MyAlerts since 1.6.x series, and was the first one to do with mybb 1.8 and the first working on mod for mybb 1.8 series.
That and the next reasons, i have to give support to users, reproduce issues and know at 00% what parts of code do what and how to make improvements, write fixes.
It is a working and usefull plugin for me and others and keeps all the necesary unique improvements and taken by the other one
At this point i have write tapatalk compat, in the tapatalk plugin but that plugin is very unsecure and someone actually uses it ?
I think tapatalk is the works mobile solution for mybb, but that was another subject

The other one is mantained by Eldenroot so i think is fine to use one or another, is just by own preferences that use like or thanks texts, i allways use thanks, but i think most of the people love like
So that was the most important difference between both plugins.
Two are usefull and the second one has most stars and more downloads, because g33k wrotes for mybb 1.6 series of mybb and i think was the most usefull mod for 1.6.x series.
But actually i can use one or another but i think in next future i will work on new versions if necesary but mybb will include this by default so i think is only an addon usefull for 1.8.x series

but just wondering if there other features that is in the other one not in yours
I am also using WhiteNeo's plugin of Thank you System and it works flawlessly
Personally I use Thank You/Like system
I use a highly customised version for my own needs.
Anyway both plugins are almost same, it is up to you guys
