You need to get a SSL certificate which you can get free from letsencrypt. You will then need to ask your host to install this onto the server for you. You can then edit the board url in the admin control panel and then use a .htaccess rule to force all traffic to load over https.

letsencrypt certificates need frequent renewals. So unless you can install the certificate yourself, have a cron job to automate it, or your host offers native support for letsencrypt, it's not a viable option.

Many hosts offer letsencrypt integration by default already. If yours does not support https - just switch hosts.

yes its true but based on my test
https://www.cloudflare.com/
with the free service you do not need to ask your host to install anything the service itself do almost everything right after you switch the domain names to the cloudflare domain names you will be asked to switch to
and the SSL will be ready within 48 hours after you request it
so for me i see this one is easy and fast and better
and it also provide web cache so if your site dropped for a while the guest can still visit the website using the cached pages from your site until it comeback online and saves a lot of server resources
