MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.

I just updated Windows to 1803 in case that's relevant, but this looks more like a problem caused my spam bots.

My forum is not very active at all, so I don't see how it can exceed 1500 queries a month, let alone per hour.

Right after I posted the above, I tried again, and connected OK.

The latest new user is indeed a spammer.

However, when I try to purge this spammer, I get the above SQL error message again.
Quote:user exceeded the 'max_queries_per_hour' resource
you have to contact your web host support & ask to increase max_queries_per_hour limit.

free web hosts & shared web hosts have a low limit of it &
hence such SQL errors can occur frequently ...

Edit: if spammers have lot of posts then getting those posts &
purging them can take good amount of database queries .. .
It is the first time it has ever happened since I started the forum.

How can It exceed 1500 queries per hour? There's only a handful of members with more than one post.

Upgrading from free hosting is not an option, and I am sure that I do not need it.
MyBB forum pages consist of debug information visible for the administrators.

it is shown at bottom right of all forum pages (like below)
Quote:
Generated in 115 ms (81.49% PHP / 18.51% MySQL)
SQL Queries: 34 / Server Load: 0.92 / Memory Usage: 13.75 MB

have a look at it on index & on a topic page and post here
I cannot access the forum now, let alone the Admin CP.

I will try again later this afternoon. The free-hosting has a 1 hour daily downtime, so right after that I might be able to purge the spammer.

I wonder whether the queries overload might be due to someone using HTTrack to download my entire site?

yes, that could be also a cause. please see related few search results (Google)
I was able to purge the spammer and access my Admin CP, so all is well for now.

My sites http://www.aimwell.org/DPPN/index.html and http://www.aimwell.org/ were not affected so my theory about HTTrack is probably wrong.

It was just the forum that was making too many queries.

Edit: All seems to be back to normal now.
I feel happy that you could purge that spammer Smile

as you said, a simple forum doesn't make so many queries to the database.
I am afraid, its difficult to rely on a free web host Sad

anyway, as suggested above (post #4)
please try to analyze number of the queries for index page & for a topic page ...
Index Page

Generated in 103 ms (27.57% PHP / 72.43% MySQL)
SQL Queries: 8 / Server Load: 26.15 / Memory Usage: 2 MB

Forum Page

Generated in 296 ms (12.15% PHP / 87.85% MySQL)
SQL Queries: 15 / Server Load: 23.38 / Memory Usage: 4 MB

I am OK with some downtime .Since I live on charity I don't want to commit the Association to on-going expenditure, even if it is only about $50 a year. I did try to upgrade once to take advantage of a special offer, but getting the payment made by my treasure proved too time-consuming, and I would have had to contact the supporter who registered the domain to transfer it to the new host. Too much work for too little benefit

I see that Googlebot was active Yesterday, at 11:28 AM; minutes after I started this thread.
