I am using mac on hostgators file manager or other hosting file managers. --Easy..

Installing a theme using the instructions is a little different then the instructions so I will explain just in case someone else comes across this problem. 

After u done downloading your theme https://mods.mybb.com/themes 

then unzip the folder to your desktop 

Once your in your file manager go to the file u uploaded your forum into 

for example forum folder

once u go into that u will see the images folder 

u can upload the .zip folder by dragging and dropping to the file manager so it will be there 

once u uploaded that into the file manager click on the .zip folder go to the right corner and look for the extract button then type /images and extract files 

once your done doing that go to templates section in your admin panel on your mybb 

import a theme look for the folder u unzip on your desktop find the xml file and upload that and name the theme

make sure your theme properties are set correctly u can change or customize anything if u want to later also make sure the image directory is set correctly

then delete the .zip file u uploaded from your server since u wont be needing it.
