the username "anonymous" which allows guests to see the forums... I seemed to have killed it by accident ... is there any way to get it back without going through hell and back?

I understand that you had an account with the username "anonymous" and with whatever password you provided, so that any guest can login into this account...if it were so, then why don't you create this account again in your ACP? If this is not the case, please provide more details.
