I installed the "Last Poster avatar" plugin. However, I really do not like the effect of running the topics.

Avatar enlarges the field for information, which increases the space between categories.

I would like the space between the categories to be the same as before (Keeping the plugin "Last Poster Avatar").
I thought you could change the display of the avatar,

Edit your avatarep.css at your own insife stylesheets.

Remove float left inside avatarep_fd
That should remove the effect, then customize it at your owns.

It is related to a non default based templates, so you have to customize it manually at your needs.
