Hello, I'm back.

I had a look to the yahoogroups mails and they contains identifiers:
  • Message-Id is unique for each mail
  • In-Reply-To is reference to the previous message in discussion
  • References is the list of all previous messages

I think I'll be able to create a plugin, the hardest thing will be to clean the messages to remove extra text and manage quotes.

Hi Crazycat - that sounds encouraging!  And well worthwhile for the community if it comes to fruition.

If you think it would need to be developed as a paid commission, let me know.

Over the break I have been playing around with Discourse, which seems to have this email functionality as a core feature, and some other advantages over myBB, but also has some disadvantages - I will need to make a call about whether to hold off for a myBB plugin or not pretty soon.
