I don't know if this has been asked before, but is modifying the rules in "member.php?action=register" of your own forums against the rules, or is it allowed?

I remember that ProBoards and Forumotion made that against their terms, so I was wondering if you could too.

It's very much allowed. MyBB is open-source and as such, the only policies in place which affect existing forums is SEP.
