how do i get the software to a hosting site? Do I first download it to my computer or does it get downloaded to the hosting company? when does the data merge occur? thanks,yvonne

Usually you would download the MyBB release package to your site, then upload the files using an FTP client such as FileZilla. Please see our installation documentation for further information: https://docs.mybb.com/1.8/install/

Some hosting providers allow you to install MyBB through softaculous, a one-click installer using which you can simply enter a few credentials and get MyBB running
