I.E. I want to require users to have 50 posts before entering forum area 'xyz'. Thanks for any tips.

Setup group promotion system. New users sign up and verified will be placed in a 'newbie' group.

Deny this newbie group read/write permissions to the forums you want to protect.

Once they have made 50 posts, the promotion system will upgrade their group, and they can now post in those forums.
