I think that is too much. Why not just A-Z and Other (to cover any other starting character)?

Even listing A to Z in thead (title bar) is too much in my opinion. Search / Filtering feature has its own dedicated section (bottom) / page (advanced search).
Listing all alphabets there is not consistent wrt rest of the theads anywhere, also its gonna be an issue for responsive theme design (Justin may know better). The best I can think of is to omit that in mobile view or place the list in a dropdown.

I'd vote for a dropdown.

Yeah, I've always thought the A-Z list looked weird. I imagine @Justin has some thoughts on the layout for 1.9.

It's not really a problem for responsive design. I think the filtering options in the header are useful as well, especially on big boards. I think i saw this as removed from the 1.9 demo site ?

Do we need more links - i don't know - they might be useful to the end user.

I think there should be an option in the ACP at least to hide the links that have zero result.

I also thought about the dropdown - i would prefer that to altogether dropping the functionality - it will be a big dropdown though.

^^ adding the option to hide zero result links is better for SEO and crawl optimisation also - less soft 404 errors.

How about keeping it as default but adding a little toggle switch in acp so users can enable/disable it?
