I temporarily disabled the Captcha system (which does not work) to be able to actually register a new user.
When logging in as this user, which is successful, I get redirected to the main Forum page... still as a Guest.
Tried this from several PCs and browsers.

No matter what I do, I stay a Guest.

I see no Log's in the Debian Server syslog or mysql logs whatsoever, so no idea what is going on.

This is a brand-new installation.

Note I have currently disabled the CAPTCHA system, so you can right in without any issues.

Could also be a cookie issue. Have you changed that those settings are correct?

Yes, that was it. I used the external (http) version of the path, but it should have been the actual Linux full path, which is www/DelphiForum/ and not /DelphiForum/

This was still the original setting from the installation script, where just typed in the value.
