Hi,

Why duplicate settings in /inc/settings.php and database?

Every time than settings is saved write the disk and DB.

I don't understand it.

I think than is better available only in database.
One example: It's more easy create a multi-forum system with the settings only in DB engine.

May be this is more apropiate for the suggestion forum, but I prefer ask before suggest.

It's a cache for the settings so that MyBB doesn't have to do hundreds of sql commands everytime a page loads.

And further to this - so vital settings such as board name, board URL and email address are available when the database is down.
