Only if the post was 'Soft Deleted'. 

Permanently deleted messages are very, very hard to retrieve. 

I highly recommend this plugin TRASH BIN and only allow Admin access to that plugin.

I use this plugin to monitor any messages that may have been permanently deleted by someone else aside from me.
