Hi all

embedded youtube videos are not showing up in our forum

the problem I am having sounds exactly like this one:

But from what I can tell, this was solved in 1.8.16

In another thread I saw a (to me) cryptic post from this thread:

...which said "It's now working after fixing it for HTTPS"

Do I need to do something to "fix for https"?

...oh wait...do I have to allow for images and videos to be displayed in posts? If so, is there a way to do that for all registered users as default?

ok...i checked my user profile and it is set to allow videos in posts, limit is one video per post, so that should work.

here is a screenshot of what I see when I post the video.  Strangey, the video shows up and is play-able in edit mode (see below), but when posted it looks like this:



....whereas in edit mode it looks like this:

Hi all

I figured out my problem!  It turns out that spam filters in my domain might have been a bit too overzealous.  The problem with posting video and images came up after I purged a spammer from our forum.  Doing so somehow caused our instance of mybb to also ban some IP addresses that had nothing to do with the spammer - they were IP addresses within our own web domain!

So I was being interpreted as a spammer too, and so it would not let me post certain content!

How I fixed it:

I went to ACP and

Home » Banning >> Banned IPs

I saw two IP addresses listed, looked them up to confirm they were IP addresses in our own domain, unbanned them, and then I could post video again.
