I recently noticed that whatever theme I switch to (including MyBB default), that the 'PurgeSpammer' function is missing in postbit for all posts in the moderation queue.  Unfortunately, I can't say for sure how long this has been the case, or whether it is associated with any particular update, but based on above, it seems to be not theme related.

The feature is definitely present and is not switched off, because the postbit under posts by registered users does display this option - which of course is the exact opposite of when it is required.

I can't find any settings that would explain it not appearing for posts by unregistered users.
I have repeatedly tried a full in-place upgrade of my forum, and no other functional issues or error messages have been encountered.

Anyone have any ideas for how can this be solved?   I am informed that this behaviour is definitely not normal.
Any chance you could try running the "find updated templates" tool in ACP > Templates & Style > Templates?

It might also be worth checking if "{$post['button_purgespammer']}" is in both your "postbit" and "postbit_classic" templates.

Thanks, Euan

"{$post['button_purgespammer']}" is in both my "postbit" and "postbit_classic" templates.

There are a lot of updated templates, and I would not know which updates might be problematic if any.
From what I can make out in the difference report,  with my extremely limited grasp of php, the changes relating to forumbit_* are cosmetic (are these the ones I should be looking at?) - but that does not preclude something crucial from being missing since before the previous update I assume?
Euan, you might want to have a look at this thread, before rehashing things that were already covered:

The OP needs to get someone to look at this problem for him.

Hi Ashley1, thanks for your help.  While the OP would love for someone to look at the problem, sadly he does not have the funds to hire someone.

The Unova Theme I use is no longer supported by the author, though it was officially updated to 1.8.10 before their support for MYBB themes was discontinued.
However, the issue does not seem to be confined to any one theme, and as noted, I have tried a full reinstall with no improvement.
Looking at page source in Chrome, following my full update and clearing cache, I see that the jsscripts now all refer to version 1.8.1.9.  Previously this was showing lower version numbers, which appeared to the basis on which you felt my installation may not have upgraded completely.

Is there some other way to tell?

Could it be a setting impacting the group that unregistered users are being assigned to (or not being assigned to), that prevents PurgeSpammer from picking up on those posts?
This is not right for 1.8.19

just changing the version numbers is not the correct way to go about things.

I didn't change the version numbers myself (wouldn't know how)- that is just what they were showing after updating myBB with full download rather than changed files download and reinstalling the Unova theme from the most recent 1.8.10 version the author had made available, before discontinuing support

What should I see here instead?  What else should I sensibly do at this point?  Everything else seems to be working well as far as I can tell.
Send me a PM with your URL and details for a temporary administrator account and I'll try find some time tomorrow after work to have a look t your settings, templates and permissions and see if I can work out what's wrong.
Purge spammer is showing up for most normal posts, but isn't showing up for posts from guests (and by extension, in this case, posts in the moderation queue which are all currently from guests).

I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour off the top of my head, and will have to look into it further tomorrow night.
