I have MYBB version 1.6.12 using php 7.1.14 and started a forum about a week ago. It seems to be working ok but when I click on view new posts I get this message and the rest of the screen is blank ? Any advice ?  Hostgator is the hosting company and the install was done using their quick one click install

I blocked out the actual site with XXX

Fatal error: 'continue' not in the 'loop' or 'switch' context in /home2/normond1032/xxxxxxxxxxx.org/MYBB-TEST/inc/functions_search.php on line 312

1.6.12 or 1.8.12, because you wont get support for the 1.6 series.
Also assuming it is 1.8.12, and since you only started, you are better off downloading the install package from this site, and installing manually. 1.8.12 is already a good few versions behind the latest version.
