I just wanted to thank everyone involved in making MyBB what it is today. It works well, it's easy to troubleshoot, and it's fast. Kudos.  Big Grin

I haven't rolled my own forums in quite a while, but after some research I decided to try MyBB. Many, many years ago I used phpBB. I rolled out this software on QHoster hosting provider with the cheapest plan (got a year with free domain name for $22.14 USD using a discount code, $37 next year). Its fast and had no issues setting up MySQL and such for MyBB.

Instructions for MyBB were easy to follow. The only awkwardness is that the instructions in download of the latest version were a little different than what's on the website. I also took some security precautions such as renaming my admin folder, adding a login to that folder in my cPanel, etc, along with deleting my install folder, rename the htaccess, and chmod on the config.php file. Everything has been working well!

I ran into an issue with my upload of files being truncated sometimes, but I think it was due to WinSCP FTP client settings, which I think I've resolved. So for example, when I went to the theme tab/page in the ACP, it was blank. Fortunately MyBB logs errors in an error file of whatever directory had the php error, so I was able to track down the problem of certain files getting truncated during upload. All fixed now, and MyBB is humming along.
I tried phphBB, SMF, and other software when I started too and honestly there is not easier script for beginners than MyBB.
