MyBB Community Forums

Full Version: 403 error on Home page. Will work with xxxx.org/mybb, but not xxxx.org

Finally reinstalled mybb after a crash.
It is installed on a LEMP droplet with certbot.
Mybb installed and works on the site: https://weatherbunker.org/mybb, but I get a 403 forbidden error on https://weatherbunker.org.
If I change inc/settings.php bburl without /mybb it doesn't load.
Changing it in the Admin settings doesn't do anything.
There was an nginx index.html file, a generic info page in the html folder, but I took it out. If I put another index file in there, it will display that, instead of opening mybb.
I didn't have this problem the last time I installed mybb, it came up on the home page the first time and every time afterward.
I'm still a rookie at this, so take it easy on me.

try fixing those or extract whats in the mybb folder out to the parent directory "basically move all the mybb files out of the folder to below the folder so they are not in the folder of mybb"   then do it like mine with your domain

Go to your settings.php file in the 'yourwebsiteroot/inc' folder and double check this line as shown in the screenshot.
(NOTE: your line number may be different from my settings.php)
