It works absolutely fine for me with version 1.2.9 and up till now version 1.2.14
here is my imageresize.php mod file
just upload it and activate & have fun

The same... All the images remain just as large.
There must be some conflicts between that mod and other plugins that I have.
There isn't another explication...
