Problem description : Users who want to join the forum cannot register. Either I am getting an invalid warning for the user name or I am receiving an e-mail invalid warning. I think the problem is with your Theme, sure it has old templates and you're getting errors because of this.
Please, put your theme as default to be checked, and not the MyBB default one that it's OK.
