Hi,
We're working on a blog post with some updates on development status, which we plan to post after releasing 1.8.21. As usual, blog posts are drafted in the dedicated GitHub repository. The first draft is an open pull request, though it's likely to change before being posted.
Once the blog post is posted, I will likely also post a development roadmap thread which will contain some more information about who's doing what and where we need help.
