Is it possible to give the subforums/forums a custom link?

For example a subforum called 'Welcome' would be called https://maindomain.com/welcome/
And not https://mainsite.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=6

Try SEO plugin.
It can give you something like
/forum-welcome

Can be further customized with rewrite rules.

Follow the instructions EXACTLY. 

If you miss one step of the instructions, the plugin will now work.
