As I said, peharps your picture, even resized to 150x150 is too heavy (wheight in bytes, not size). You can also check your php logs to see if there are errors.

I dont think so.. it isn't that extreme to upload an avatar to any other mybb forum and have it automatically resize. It only really happens to mine
