Full Version: Allow Link MyCode off still allows links

If you turn off " Allow Link MyCode" in Clickable Smilies and BB Code you can still post live links by just typing them in.

Surely the point off turning link MyCode off is to disallow links ?

I have just updated from 1.8.15 to 1.8.21 so I'm not sure how long this has been happening as I was using a MyCode to break links, but that no longer works.

*I have double checked on a fresh install of 1.8.21 running on PHP 7.2.19 and you can post live links even if Allow Links is turned off.

Would be grateful if someone could check this out as I disallow live links on my forum.

Thank you.

Hello I just checked the Github and it looks like nothing is happening, I know you are all busy but it's been almost 3 months and it looks like it's going to get overlooked in the next milestone. .

Is there something I could edit myself ?

Thank you.
I think what needs to happen here is that a new setting should be added, "Auto-link post URLs?" — if this setting is set to NO, then skip auto-URL parsing, if it is set to YES (default) then proceed as normal.

Would that satisfy your issue, @sarisisop?

Hello Wildcard, I'm not exactly sure.

I have a No Link policy, apart from internal links. I use this plugin for those: https://mods.mybb.com/view/internal-linking

The "Allow Link MyCode" option worked before I upgraded from 1.8.15 to 1.8.21.

If I am reading your suggestion correctly the links would be visible on a post but not live ? If that is the case then No it wouldn't work as I need to stop even text links being posted.

I'm currently using this plugin since the upgrade: https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?acti...w&pid=1223 but it's a lot of hassle using it with "Internal Linking"

Hope that helps, but the best thing I would like would be an option where groups could post links. For example Mods can post live outside links, but a newbie would get a message No Link Allowed.

Thank you
