I want to host mybb on my own server , what are the infrastructure requirements , what software and hardware will I require .

There is no fixed hardware specification to run the MyBB forums. Basically you can run it on any hardware.
And mind the CPU performance is just secondary - it is more a matter of memory.
It depends on your Webserver configuration on how it handles sessions and memory. You can specify the number of deamon processes (forks), max count of concurrent connections as well as memory limits.
When using an own hosting server just start with an initial configuration, run the forum software then and monitor the utilisation and performance while the board is growing.
