There's no clues to be had from a closed forum. Best is to restore your database and fileset from just before the upgrade.

A 504 is a gateway timeout, it’s a server related issue and not related to the upgrade.

This is not the proper forum to be requesting paid support.

I see you're using CloudFlare, are you getting the 504 error with CloudFlare or are running a reverse proxy (i.e. nginx + Apache)? Either way it sounds like a caching issue but kinda hard to tell with limited details.

How can it be cloudflare? I have been using it the entire time. The only thing that changed was the upgrade. Before that the forum was working perfectly. I can give you any details you need.

That's what I'm trying to find out. The 504 error is being thrown by a reverse proxy so either you are using 2 (CloudFlare + a local setup) or the error is being thrown by CloudFlare which is entirely possible if CloudFlare or another CDN is caching your old files or it's using old rewrite rules. You need to provide more information if you want us to help you.

Correlation doesn't equate to causality. I updated our company website the other week and 2 minutes later it went down, but it wasn't my change that caused it, Cloudflare had an outage. Sometimes a separate issue coincides with something you've done and you have to either establish whether they're linked or isolate them.

In this instance, something else completely unrelated could have happened to the server at around the same time, and the slow loading could be caused by the server being under strain which in turn throws a 504 error. As per the stats you've posted, 95% of the load time is database processing, so isn't MyBB's code, but is the database queries themselves, which would suggest it's server related. Or it is network/Cloudflare related as KuJoe says. It's hard for us to debug. I haven't seen the 504 to see what else it says, but could you ask your host if they have any error logs?

It's literally impossible that it's a server related issue as it only started happening after the upgrade.. Also slow loading times..

Correlation doesn't equate to causality. I updated our company website the other week and 2 minutes later it went down, but it wasn't my change that caused it, Cloudflare had an outage. Sometimes a separate issue coincides with something you've done and you have to either establish whether they're linked or isolate them.

In this instance, something else completely unrelated could have happened to the server at around the same time, and the slow loading could be caused by the server being under strain which in turn throws a 504 error. As per the stats you've posted, 95% of the load time is database processing, so isn't MyBB's code, but is the database queries themselves, which would suggest it's server related. Or it is network/Cloudflare related as KuJoe says. It's hard for us to debug. I haven't seen the 504 to see what else it says, but could you ask your host if they have any error logs?

Just to disprove this I literally spent 50$ to buy a new server today, transferred the website to the new server and voila. Exactly the same issue. You're right that it's server related and due to the database, however I think the update somehow messed up the database causing all of these issues. Now my site has been broken for 5 days and I'm unable to get any real support, even when trying to pay.

I contacted my host and waiting for a reply. There's also other issues such as "Authorization code mismatch. Are you accessing this function correctly? Please go back and try again." when trying to log in to the forum now. This is a nightmare in general.
