I tried that and I still get nothing but a white page once it hits the settings synchronization page and those are showing zero has changed.

I get taking on the upgrade in smaller increments, but wonder how you came to select those specific versions?  Seems 1.8.12 is the lowest version still available directly from MyBB?

Facing something a bit similar starting from 1.8.6 with a ~240MB db.  Got a test version of our forum running on a local virtual host.  Like to figure it out before moving to the live install: Wink

Updating from 1.6 to 1.8 gave me trouble with the database upgrade, see the thread here.

If the database hangs, you'll be lucky with an error message to show where it gets stuck.
Otherwise, count the Next steps to help identify what script in the sequence it's hanging on.
Be aware that configuration differences between live server and test server will have an impact.

Because of the custom theme problems going from 1.6 to 1.8, I did all my upgrades on the test server, then exported the revised themes. When I upgraded the live forum, I deleted the old themes then imported the ones I saved from the test update. There were a few compromises made there.

My upgrades going from 1.8.7 to 1.8.21 was done in a couple of steps over , like 1812 then 1819 then latest to 1821.

[edit to add]All versions back to 1.6.9 are available here.

Dartsnutz,

I am a novice upgrading from 1.6.10 to current 1.8.21.  First time ever and the script hung. https://community.mybb.com/editpost.php?...rocessed=1

Maybe upgrading in steps would help like you did.  Do you have ideas on which versions to use?  There are a lot available so I need to narrow it down.

Thanks,
Kramsman
I am stuck too, I am coming from an old 1.6 and apparantly I am stuck now at the latest 1.6.18, before the 1.8 .

I tried running the default upgrade to the latest, but its just getting stuck. My DB is only 12 MB.

So I wanted to it by intervals, but I can not download any of the 1.8 versions, theres no download option on the version page..

How can I solve this?

I'm still in the same place.  My BB is dead and I am hesitant to restore and start again since I've never done a restore and, even if successful, I still don't have a plan forward.  I could really use assistance.
