Backing up clarification:

So to fully back up you need database and what is called 'files'(which is all other things that is not database).

Database backup is easy.

I can not seems to find answer on what 'files back up' means:

a) Is it just certain folders with images, themes, files that are uploaded by users?
Could you specify which folders are these?

b) Do I back up whole files structure with forum core files, plugins and everything that is in a)?

c) Can I back up only the core configuration?

It seems that each option might be used in various situation. a) could be used for update, b) for when your forum get hacked to quickly recover.

I am probably missing something as newbies does...
In order to do a restore, you need the database and files.

files are all files incl. plugin files, image directories etc.

So making a full backup of database (as it takes reasonably small bit of space)?

Differential backup of media and all user content (lots of space)?

Full backup of plugins and core content of forum?

Does that sounds reasonable?
We've just updated our Docs related to file backups and Directory Structure:

Yes. It's also a good idea to make sure both database and file backups work properly by creating a temporary second MyBB installation using them (database connection details will need to be adjusted in inc/config.php, and the cookie path may need correcting for the new URL).
