Hi

I have uploaded the mybb files, CHMOD'd the right ones, but when I try to install I get this error message:


Warning: main(./global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/nvcuk/public_html/nvcukinfopoint/admin/adminfunctions.php on line 11

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/nvcuk/public_html/nvcukinfopoint/admin/adminfunctions.php on line 11


Can anyone help?

looks to me like it's not finding that file

is nvcukinfopoint the directory where you uploaded the files correctly? http://nvcukinfopoint.com/admin

I am unclear where you are getting nvcinfopoint.com from in your reply?

I have tried to start from scratch and have re-uploaded and CHMOD the files to a different directory at:

http://www.nvc-uk.info/mybb/install/

The files are all visible in the mybb directory ok and CHMOD'd but I am still getting the error message as before:

It seems the installation programme is not finding something called global.php ?? Is this a PHP system file of some kind on the server?

Any further help would be appreciated.

I got it from: /home/nvcuk/public_html/nvcukinfopoint/

you have there a directory nvcukinfopoint - but isn't important now cause your path is different in the error you posted

so now you have:
/home/nvcuk/public_html/mybb

in that directory you should have all the files and folders of the mybb

/home/nvcuk/public_html/mybb
---a bunch of php files that belong in the root directory which is mybb
/home/nvcuk/public_html/mybb/admin
/home/nvcuk/public_html/mybb/images
/home/nvcuk/public_html/mybb/inc
/home/nvcuk/public_html/mybb/install

make sure you have chmod everything properly

is that how u have your directory structure?

I have just checked and the two files mentioned in the instructions below are 666.

Are there others or just these?

When I attempt to run the install directory, I get the error message posted earlier.

All the files are in the directories as supplied when I unzipped the programme.

If you want to check I am happy for you to ftp in and check out the directories and chmod yourself, if you have time. Let me know and I will email them to you personally. My email address is [email protected]

Any further thoughts?

In your browser, visit the URL where you installed your forums, appending /install/ on to the end of it.

If you installed your forums to http://www.yoursite.com/forums/ then you would visit http://www.yoursite.com/forums/install/.

Many thanks for your interest and efforts - seems it was that I uploaded the files using Dreamweaver, and not an ftp client that uploaded them in autodetect mode, which is required.

I will see how it all installs.
