MyBB Community Forums

Current version is myBB 1.8.4 I would like to do an upgrade but am nervous about blowing it. Here is my plan:

Copy all current files into another directory.
Check that the forum works from that new directory.

Do the upgrade in that new directory.
Be sure everything is working OK.

Replace files in original directory with new files from tested upgrade directory.

Is this a viable plan?

sounds like a good plan to me! : )
Make sure to create a lot of backups of everything, though. Including the database.

Yes! I forgot to mention that was part of the plan too.

You also forgot about theme, make sure to keep a theme backup as well.

After upgrading MyBB, then upgrade your theme as well
