I have Mybb 1.6.11 running with an old theme (Red Fashion).
Im going to upgrade. Do I start with the forum (and then get errors for running an old theme on a new Mybb) and instal a new theme afterwards. Thinking of FA5...
Upgrade MyBB first, then install a new theme or manually upgrade the one you have.
Core first, peripherals after!
The board upgrade is a core change and the base of the entire forum system.
Themes/templates do base on the core system, so these peripherals need to be updated afterwards in regards to core changes.
Once upgrade and templates are done successfully, carry on with any third party and custom stuff (plugins, modifications etc.)

@RigPa: Check if the theme is having a version for 1.8 MyBB. Or maybe check other themes.
