When you download a Plugin package, first extract the comnpressed archive file.
Inside you'll surely find the directories and file structure.
So upload these files into the correspnding folders on your webspace.
It depends on the complexity/extnsions of the Plugin how many files you have to put in place (plugin core file (must!), image files, JavaScript files, language files, maybe other outsourced PHP files).
Just extract the archive and look inside!
