Hi all,

We are looking at potentially updating the documation shipped with MyBB in the Help Centre in 1.9. If you aren't sure what I mean, the section I'm talking about is https://community.mybb.com/misc.php?action=help .

Bearing in mind the help section is aimed towards the users of your forum and not for any administrative queries. They should instead be directed towards the docs site, https://docs.mybb.com . We do also want users opinions on what content you would like to see on DOCS.MYBB.COM. If you have suggestions please refer to: https://community.mybb.com/thread-227563.html

If you have suggestions for the built-in help section please leave them below. We will review any requests and try to include as many as possible.
My only suggestion is to have a new page for explaining some of the "Options" in the UCP (e.g. threaded vs. standard mode, classic vs. modern postbit, or how to change the user theme). Some of these are a little confusing at first glance for users who aren't familiar with MyBB.

The rest of it looks pretty much on point, in my opinion. Smile
1.9 has been stalled for a good while now.

I think at this point leave it as is and only update necessary information and then later on down the line you can update the "help center" through regular MyBB version updates.

Doing this now will only result in more work and result in a longer wait period to get 1.9 out in beta and then into a stable release which is only going to make people more upset and seek a different software.

Not necessarily, we have different teams for different things and it's likely I will be updating the documentation without having the PHP skills to move 1.9 on.
This is something I've been wanting to work on for a while. I've actually updated the MyCode help doc recently, like adding the missing MyCodes (PHP, HR, and Video), updating the HTML to match what the parser uses (the current help doc uses old, out of date HTML like <font> whereas the parser uses <span style>; quote and code didn't even resemble what is used in posts) and updated the whole doc to use a table (to make readability easier).
