Finally we found out that a security program (mod security) is running during office hours at my provider.
It prohibits writing into the templates files.
The provider says they are looking for a permanent solution.
For the time being I have to wait until they go home before I can adapt the templates.
I'm sorry if the coincidence of what I did led me to the wrong conclusions where the failure was.
I can reassure you it's not a problem in the myBB software.
