So problem fixed. It was indeed the htpasswd protection I placed on the ACP folder while, at the same time, implementing the HTTPS. I failed to realize the popup login request was associated with the htpasswd protection and kept trying to enter my ACP credentials instead. Basically, I secured my site so much I locked myself out of it.
Once this was realized I was able to gain access, no problem.
My recommendation to myself for the future is to not make multiple changes at once in order to properly test and identify how those changes affect the system.
