Just setting up my new forum ready to launch, when  I noticed I was still on PHP 7.23 and MySQL 5.7.31 when recommended is PHP 7.3 and MySQL 8


Updated the PHP in cPanel no probs but I believe updating MySQL is more complex ??


Should I bother? Will it break anything I've already set up?
Or is it a 'no-brainer' get it done thing ??

if you are using shared hosting server then you have to contact your web host support for updating MySQL Server.
generally speaking, MySQL 5.7.31 can be also used without any issues. many web hosts still use it.
