You can use css to fix a min-width, or use a mycode (search in
https://community.mybb.com/forum-117.html, there is a lot of examples for image size).
But growing a picture (or forcing a higher display size) is a really bad idea, and totaly useless imho.

Ideally you'd set a max-width; for example if you set your theme to a max-width of 1150px (I wouldn't generally recommend much higher, as you end up scanning your whole screen and get tired), so you set a max-width of an image in the postbit to not wreck your theme.
